The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is part of a 70-city nation wise screening tour of the new film Phoenix, Oregon.

The screening is scheduled for 7 p.m. July 15, and the museum says that this screening is the only chance for local Fort Worth audiences to see the film and participate in a Q&A with the filmmakers.

The JOMA Films movie features James LeGros (Drugstore Cowboy, Living in Oblivion, Ally McBeal), Lisa Edelstein (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, House), Jesse Borrego (Fame, Blood In Blood Out), Diedrich Bader (Office Space, Veep, Drew Carey Show), Reynaldo Gallegos (Logan/Wolverine, Rambo 4, Sons of Anarchy) and Kevin Corrigan (The Departed, Pineapple Express, Fringe).

The lead characters Bobby (LeGros) and Carlos (Borrego) must defying midlife haze, and seize an unlikely opportunity to reinvent their lives, quitting their jobs to restore an old bowling alley and serve the “world’s greatest pizza,” JOMA said in a news release.

Despite controlling bosses, dead-end jobs and broken relationships, the two leads must awaken hibernating courage and resilience in order to take new risks and keep dreams alive.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with writer, director and editor Gary Lundgren and producers Annie Lundgren and Luis Rodriguez.

The film is playing to smash reviews.

“Phoenix, Oregon film walks a gorgeous line between pathos and comedy, proving Lundgren to be a master of tone and discovering the grace notes that make up even the most mundane moments of our lives. Lundgren's script has more to say about depression, anxiety, art, friendship and love than any dozen movies I've seen in the theater this year. As an indie film, it's not just a potent reminder of why smaller movies with unheard voices are important – but also that a big budget is wholly unnecessary when sharing truth and beauty with an audience,” says Jared Rasic, The Source Weekly.
