LT Arby's

LaDainian Tomlinson knows how to draw a crowd - and he spent his entire career at Texas Christian University and throughout the NFL in San Diego and New York satisfying fans hungry for excitement.

Recently, the electrifying NFL Hall of Fame running back, teamed with Arby's to transform one of their New York restaurants into his own steakhouse - for a day.

The redesigned Arby’s featured everything you’d expect from a high-end steakhouse: luxurious linen tablecloths and napkins, proper ambiance with tea light votives, and fine petite filet steak. But this one had something extra - a Hall of Famer's name on the door.

It even featured a ribbon cutting and meet-and-greet with LT.

The steakhouse-for-a-day was opened to celebrate the launch of Arby’s Garlic Butter Steak Sandwich and the Steak & Bacon Melt. They are billing them as having done "the impossible" by creating the first "true" steak sandwich in quick service restaurant history.

“In the steak world, there’s this tradition of legendary football players opening premium steakhouses,” Tomlinson said. “LaDainian Tomlinson’s Arby’s Steakhouse continues this tradition, but in this case, I’m the football player and the steakhouse is an Arby’s.”

LT's unique approach to dipping his toe in the proverbial steakhouse waters is interesting. It certainly differs from the likes of John Elway, Michael Jordan, and Brett Favre, all of whom have opened successful steak restaurants.

No word on whether LT will take this to the next level and open a real steakhouse - permanently. If he does, however, wouldn't Fort Worth or San Diego make sense? After all, when you think of his career, with all due respect to the New York Jets (where he ended his career), Horned Frogs and lightning bolts come to mind. And Fort Worth certainly likes its steakhouses, too.
