EDUCATION

Linda Antinone, chairman of the mathematics department at R.L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth, is one of nine K-12 educators recently tapped to become a 2019-2020 Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow. For 11 months Fellows will serve at a federal agency or U.S. Congressional office in Washington, D.C., applying classroom knowledge and expertise to federal science, technology, engineering and mathematics education efforts.

After 34 years in education, Antinone said she will retire when the semester ends and start the fellowship in August. She has worked for the Fort Worth Independent School District for 23 years as a teacher and secondary math coordinator. She currently teaches precalculus, Advanced Placement calculus and AP physics at Paschal. She is a co-author of books for the American Association of Physics and technology companies Texas Instruments and Vernier and was a contributing writer for the 2007 Prentice Hall math series. As a professional development trainer for TI, she’s traveled to 32 states delivering 2,000 hours of training, and she’s co-developed six multi-day workshops for math and science teachers. For more than a decade she has developed and taught curriculum for a summer physics camp for young women.

HONORS & AWARDS

TEXPAC, the political action committee of the Texas Medical Association (TMA), presented Fort Worth obstetrician-gynecologist G. Sealy Massingill with the 2019 TEXPAC June Bratcher Award for Political Action for support of a political campaign to help organized medicine. Massingill received the award during TexMed, TMA’s annual conference, held this year in Dallas. TEXPAC presents the Bratcher Award every two years to a physician or his or her spouse or partner who was an outstanding volunteer in a federal or state political campaign. Massingill also received the Young at Heart Award from the TMA Young Physician Section.

Adam Gawarecki of the Denton Economic Development Partnership has been chosen as one of the Top 50 Economic Developers of North America for 2019 by Consultant Connect, a consulting agency designed to bridge the gap between economic developers and site consultants.

Fort Worth Police Officers Matthew Putnam and David Jwanowski received the Top Cops Award at the 26th annual National Association of Police Organizations award dinner in Washington, D.C. These officers and their teammates on Sept. 13, 2018, tracked down the killers of Police Cpl. Garrett Hull. Hull and other members of the Criminal Intelligence Unit had been conducting surveillance of three people suspected in more than 15 armed robberies in which three people were shot. The three suspects ran into the surrounding neighborhood and during the foot chase, one opened fire, shooting Hull in the head. Other officers returned fire and killed the subject before placing Hull in a patrol car and taking him to a hospital. The other two suspects were caught nearby.

HUMAN RESOURCES

Dunaway announced that Nova Albers has been named human resources executive. Albers, born and raised in Mesquite, is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington.

She previously worked for nearly five years at Exeter Finance, where most recently she was a senior vice president. She also has work experience at GM Financial and Blue Cross Blue Shield Minnesota.

LAW

James E. McClain has joined Kelly Hart in the firm’s Fort Worth office. McClain represents multi-national corporate clients in business transactions often involving significant domestic, international and cross-border tax issues including structuring inbound and outbound investments, branch profits tax, transfer pricing, earnings-stripping, tax withholding and tax treaties. He previously was an attorney at Palmer & Manuel PLLC in Dallas and before that was an in-house counsel for the Tetra Laval Group.

Jackson Walker has added Joseph P. Regan and Adam L. Plumbley to the firm’s trial and appellate litigation practice in Fort Worth. Regan practices energy litigation with a concentration in eminent domain and related matters. Plumbley represents oil and gas producers, utilities, common carriers and midstream companies in all aspects of energy litigation, condemnation and eminent domain, and real property disputes.

NONPROFITS

Alliance For Children has received a grant of more than $15,000 from the Texas Bar Foundation to help provide a two-day Child Homicides Investigations training to 150-200 professionals in Tarrant County, the organization said in a news release.

Alliance For Children partners with Cook Children’s Medical Center, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, 26 local law enforcement agencies and the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office to coordinate child abuse investigations.

REAL ESTATE

LanCarte Commercial Real Estate has hired David Corley III to focus on industrial brokerage. Corley will represent tenants, landlords, buyers and sellers in the leasing and disposition/acquisition of industrial facilities throughout Fort Worth and Dallas.

“We are thrilled to have David join our company. David’s background and experience are a great addition to our team and bring a unique perspective to the business,” Sarah LanCarte, founder and president, said in a news release. Corley is a native of Fort Worth and earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Texas A&M University.

M2G Ventures has added Katie Seiffert as director of finance. She is responsible for coordinating all financial management activities for the company as well as M2G’s investment portfolio. Jenny Sanders has been added as director of marketing and innovation. She will lead strategic communication initiatives to grow the M2G Ventures brand and manage social impact initiatives.
