Local medical equipment supplier acquired

Home Medical Equipment (HME) of Texas, a privately-owned company based in North Richland Hills, has been acquired by Numotion, a national provider of complex rehab technology designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities and medical conditions.

Terms of the acquisition are undisclosed.

Numotion, based in Brentwood, Tenn., will expand in Texas with the acquisition. The company provides products such as complex power wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs and electric scooters. Numotion has 120 locations across the country, and serves more than 250,000 people annually.

“HME of Texas has a great reputation throughout the state for providing customers with premier products and services,” said Mike Swinford, CEO of Numotion. “Their knowledge of the Texas market will improve our coverage and enable us to positively impact many more lives by serving the mobility needs of more customers.”

Founded in 1993, HME of Texas provides a variety of durable medical equipment and supplies such as oxygen equipment, hospital beds, customized electric and manual wheelchairs, electric scooters, lift chairs, walkers, canes, crutches and bathroom safety products.

According to Issam Bou-Hamdan, owner of HME of Texas, customers should not experience any changes in their service.

HME of Texas will continue to operate from its current headquarters. Next year, the location, along with Numotion’s current Fort Worth branch, will move into a new facility to align resources.
