Medical Center Arlington cut the ribbon on Oct. 12 to celebrate the completed construction on two projects totaling $30 million, part of a $100 million facility expansion and renovation investment that includes expansion of the emergency room and construction of a $60 million Women’s Hospital.

The latest completions include a suite for a 3-D Biplane, a 360-degree radiological imaging equipment, and an expansion of the existing intensive care unit (ICU).

“These expansions allow us to not only care for more patients, but also to provide them with a higher level of care,” said CEO Winston Borland. “With more construction in progress, we expect to continue with our goal of becoming the preferred choice in health care for customers in the community.”

The ICU development adds 24 private rooms for both trauma patients and those needing intermediate care. The unit is equipped with satellite working stations to allow for close monitoring of patients.

Medical Center Arlington now has a total of 54 ICU rooms.

Scheduled for a December completion, the expansion of the ER will contain a new CT scanner for faster results, a 6-bed pediatric unit with additional staff certified and trained in pediatric care, and separate entrance and waiting areas for adults and children.

The five-story Women’s Hospital will include a total of 70 post-partum, ante-partum and gynecology beds, future expansion to 23 labor and delivery suites, and a total of 35 beds in the neo-natal intensive care unit. More than 4,300 babies are delivered annually at MCA.

Medical Center Arlington, an affiliate of HCA, is 342-bed, acute-care hospital serving southern Tarrant County. The full-service hospital is Tarrant County’s first TJC-certified Primary Stroke Center, an accredited Cycle IV Chest Pain Center, and Arlington’s only designated Level III Trauma hospital. It is the official hospital of the Texas Rangers.

Renovating a hospital is a daunting task because the hospital must not be closed while these renovations are done. The key for successfully finishing such a project is a detailed planning, a strict working schedule and of course, professional workers which have only quality construction equipments, like diamond saw blades to work with efficiently. Doing so everyone will be happy, the workers, the main constructor and the hosptial managers.
