For the first time in the history of the program, the TCU Lady Frogs volleyball team has garnered recognition in the American Volleyball Coaches Association preseason poll. While they have not cracked the top 25, the Lady Frogs did receive 10 votes, a first in the preseason rankings.

"It's an honor for our program to be recognized by the AVCA," Lady Frogs head coach Jill Kramer said. "We are solely focused on the process with our team, making progress on and off the court, both in our individual play and as a team, day in and day out.

"We have a lot to learn and improve upon, and this team is very driven. They push each other and bring out the best in one another. That's what we continue to work towards as the season draws near."

This comes on the heels of another first, the highest preseason Big 12 prediction ever for the Lady Frogs. They are picked third in the conference.

TCU is the third of four Big 12 teams to be ranked or receiving votes in the poll. Texas claimed the highest rank (4), followed by Baylor (20), and Kansas comes in behind TCU with two votes.

The Horned Frogs 10 votes places them 34th in the country ahead of programs such as UCLA (7), South Carolina (6) and Colorado (3).

Three of TCU’s non-conference opponents received votes as well. Colorado State came in 28th with 51 votes, Florida State in 31st with 33 votes and Rice finished just behind the Frogs, claiming six votes.

Fans can get their first peek at the 2019 team in the annual Purple and White Scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 3 p.m.

The regular season opens with a 7 p.m. match against High Point on Aug. 30 as the first match of the Cowtown Classic. TCU will play Lipscomb and Villanova on Saturday and Sunday to complete the weekend.

The Lady Frogs are coming off a 15-12 season that saw them go 7-9 in the Big 12 Conference.
