Westchester Plaza going down

The Westchester Plaza building at the corner of 8th Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue will be imploded Sunday, March 18, 2018, Dallas Demolition Co., hired to handle the destruction of the building said.

The implosion is scheduled for 8 a.m., or soon after, as weather, preparations and security permit, the company said.

An exclusion zone will be established a block away from the building to keep people at a safe distance and allow Dallas Demolition work crews to clean up dust after the event without risk to pedestrians or traffic.

The building is owned by 554 S. Summit 1 LLC, which is clearing the land for an as yet unknown or undetermined use.

Dallas Demolition said that the 12-story reinforced concrete Westchester Plaza Building will be "brought down in a matter of seconds with an implosion of the structure, putting the 17,110 tons of debris close to grade where it can be moved quickly with our heavy equipment over

six weeks following the implosion."

Someone didn't do their homework. As of last December implosions are illegal. They violate both the OSHA and the EPA regulations on fugitive particulates/respirable silica.
